Welcome to Dr Michael Wesley

Michael Wesley 1600

I would like to welcome one of Australia’s leading international relations experts, Professor Michael Wesley, to ANU.

Professor Wesley will lead the ANU National Security College’s Academic, Outreach and Research Program and contribute to a number of courses at the Crawford School of Public Policy.

He has extensive experience teaching, researching and communicating on Australia’s international engagements, particularly in Asia. He was Executive Director of the Lowy Institute for International Policy from 2009 to 2012 and Professor of International Relations and Director of the Asia Institute at Griffith University from 2004 to 2009. He has also taught at a number of other universities in Australia and overseas.

Professor Wesley’s appointment will consolidate the impressive progress the National Security College has made since its establishment in 2010. Heightened engagement on key public policy issues is a priority for the University and Professor Wesley’s appointment will help us achieve this objective.

His impressive achievements in government, academia and the private sector make him ideally placed to further the work of the National Security College. I welcome him to the University and look forward to the contributions he will make on issues relevant to Australia’s international interests.
